Stephen: Now we learn what are the signs ($ F P T, see below)

On the top bar you will see 140,961,923 $, 9,055,441 F, 2,016 P 30 T, RT, Pandy

$ is the amount of credits (money) that you have
Credits are used in every single aspect of the game and they are a important resource.

F is the food you have
Food is very important, as it feeds your population. For all but the Guardian race if your food drops to 0 your population begins to starve.  This will have a negative effect in the manner of  lowering loyalty as they starve, once loyalty gets below 50 the numbers will colour in red to indicate danger and they'll die off at a faster rate.

P is the power rating (how powerful you are)
This represents how powerful your empire is currently.  It takes into account all of your population, infrastructure, as well as ships and planets, that you may have.

This basically enables the game to determine your power for battle, and gives a base for determining who you may attack and who may attack you.

For more information see "attacking" in the "manual"

For the more advanced users who like to know how the power rating is worked out

Planet power rating:-

(pop / 10) + housing + commercial + mining + agriculture + industry + ( planet x 1000 )

 Player power rating:-

(total planet power rating) + (total ship power rating)

T refers to the turns available
Most tasks you do require turns. You can't do anything if the turn indicator is  zero. Turns regerate as listed on first page of walkthrough

Normal
This represents the speed game you are playing in. Different speeds generate turns at a different rate.

Pandy
This is where your empire name appears. In this lesson you will learn how to move about.
