# Aspha Miners (race 6)

**Identity:** the bulk race. Largest buildable roster in the game (17 hulls after
excluding the G.Livid mission reward), 3rd-best ppt, and the widest internal
quality spread of any race — it contains the game's 2nd-best hull by dpt and
four of its worst-performing ones.

**Verdict: strong on both lenses, but internally the most inconsistent.** With
Special hulls in the pool Miner reads **109.4 at equal PR — the best of any race
— and 104.6 at equal turns** (average 107.0, 2nd behind Guardian). Its median
damage per PR is still 6th of 7, dragged down by a long tail of weak hulls
rather than by a weak top end; the race's strength is its depth and its two
elite hulls, not its average.

> **Corrected.** An earlier draft had Miner 4th at equal PR (98.1). That came
> from a pool excluding the six Special/Strafez hulls; Miner gains more from
> their inclusion than any other race.

> **G.Livid (base) is a mission reward, not buildable.** It sits at BR 1 and
> `upkeep = 0` — ppt 13,013 against G.Livid (r)'s 50,052, a quarter the rate. It
> is the only `upkeep = 0` player hull and is excluded from every statistic on
> this page. **`G.Livid (r)` is the Miner fighter that matters.**

## M.Lakko is the second-best hull in the game on tempo

64,111 dpt at 874 damage per PR and 73,332 ppt — behind only Marauder's Angel
(67,739) and ahead of every Guardian and Collective hull. Note it is a
**starbase**: the battle record shows 34,296 defensive units and **zero
offensive units**, so this ceiling is defensive only in practice.

## The `G.` and `M./A.` split

- **`G.` line** (Sapphire, Rhyolite, Lictor, both Livids) — the strong family,
protected twice over: **`capture = −100`** (immune to Collective and Viral
capture) *and* **name-blocked** from Viral reverse engineering.
- **`M.`/`A.` line** — the bulk family, `capture = 0`, so both reverse-eligible
  and **capturable**. The starbases M.Lakko / A.Kryo / A.Hoko are reverse-eligible
only *incidentally*, because the class block is broken (see
[5-Viral.md](5-Viral.md)); they are safe from capture, since Starbases are
excluded by the third capture gate.

Miner is one of only three races whose hulls can be captured at all, so the
`M.`/`A.` line pays a hidden tax when trading with Collective or Viral. See
[Combat-Mechanics.md](Combat-Mechanics.md) §4.

Viral's usual Miner picks are M.Illite, M.Epidote and M.Chlor.

## Notable

- **G.Rhyolite** is the roster's most misread hull. It carries the 2nd-highest
damage per PR in the game (1,037) and an above-median dpt (29,787), yet
measures −9.4 observed and −14.6 simulated. The cause is not its output — it
is that Collective's R.Sloop does the same job strictly better:

  | | R.Sloop | G.Rhyolite |
  |---|---|---|
  | Unit PR | 558 | 1,596 |
  | dpt | 29,850 | 29,787 |
  | EHP/1kPR | 1,683 | 759 |

Identical damage per turn, 2.9× smaller unit, 2.2× tougher per PR. Note
Rhyolite's ppt (28,728) is *below* the roster median, so a PR reduction — the
earlier proposal — would lower it further. That fix needs re-thinking with
  build rate in view.
- **A.Kryo** has the 3rd-highest ppt in the game (87,781) and the 2nd-lowest
damage per PR (234). A pure Growth engine, in the same mould as Guardian's
G.Diamond and open to the same question about whether the role is real.
- **A.Hoko is the only Dead-weight-archetype hull in the game** — bottom third
on damage per PR (375), durability (1,172) *and* dpt (11,175). It has no role
the rest of the roster does not fill better.
- **M.Chlor** carries the 2nd-highest EHP per PR in the game (3,484) on 298
damage per PR — a Wall in a race that already gets better Walls from the
  neutral pool.
- Miner's long weak tail (A.Hoko, M.Chlor, M.Epidote, A.Kryo) is why its median
damage per PR is 6th despite holding two of the game's ten best hulls. The
race is not weak; it is *inconsistent*, and its floor is where any change
  should go.
