# Collective (race 4)

**Identity:** the tempo race. Second-best dpt in the game (29,530, a hair behind
Guardian's 29,603) with the widest class spread of any roster — thirteen hulls
covering ten classes, from a 131 PR fighter to a 79,420 PR Leviathan, the only
Leviathan any race has. Three Tempo-archetype hulls, more than anyone.

**Verdict on stats alone: mid-table and unremarkable** — and with Special hulls
in the pool it is the **weakest race on the averaged view** (92.2 equal PR /
83.7 equal turns / 87.9 average). But stats alone understate it badly, because
Collective is **the capture race** and none of the balance simulation prices
that in.

### Capture is the race identity

Every `H.*` hull carries **`capture = 100`** — it takes *everything* eligible it
kills. The `R.*` line carries 50. Nothing else in the game exceeds Viral's 75.

| Line | Capture | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| `H.*` — Galleon, Barkentine, Brigantine, Man-O-war, Corsair, Suzerain, Overlord | **100** | takes 100% of eligible kills |
| `R.*` — Schooner, Snow, Monitor | **50** | takes half |

A kill is only taken if the victim is a Terran / Marauder / A.Miner hull, is not
`capture = −100` (so not `D.` or `G.` class), and is not a Starbase or Scout.
Collective's own hulls are never capturable.

So a Collective fleet trading evenly with Terran, Marauder or Miner **comes out
ahead on ships even when it comes out level on PR** — an advantage that does not
appear anywhere in the win-rate tables on this page. Read the 87.9 average as
"weakest on raw combat stats", not "weakest race". Full rules in

## The two lines

- **`R.` line** (Pinnace, Sloop, Snow, Monitor, Schooner, Sovereign) — the
combat family. Contains both Elite hulls and both of the race's best damage
  per PR figures.
- **`H.` line** (Overlord, Suzerain, Corsair, Brigantine, Man-O-war, Barkentine,
Galleon) — the sustain family. Cheaper, tougher, lower per-PR output, with the
  two Walls.

Neither prefix is caught by the `P.`/`D.`/`G.` reverse block, but **Collective
is not an eligible donor race at all** (only Terran, Marauder and Miner are), so
none of this is reachable by Viral.

## Notable

- **H.Overlord** is the only Leviathan in the game: 79,420 PR at BR 1, 53,162
dpt (4th highest), 669 damage per PR, split 30,000 energy / 25,000 chem. It is
the race's centrepiece and unusually well-rounded for a capital hull.
- **R.Pinnace** carries 1,081 damage per PR at 162 PR — elite efficiency and
fine granularity together. Raw observed win-lift put it at +9.0, but that
figure is contaminated: it appears in Miner and Guardian fleets in the battle
record, and since Collective is a blocked reverse donor and capture is
restricted to races 1/2/6, those appearances are unexplained. Within native
Collective fleets it measures +7.4 — still good, but the pooled number should
  not be used.
- **R.Sloop** is the cleanest illustration of why unit size matters. Compare to
  Miner's G.Rhyolite, which has near-identical output:

  | | R.Sloop | G.Rhyolite |
  |---|---|---|
  | Unit PR | 558 | 1,596 |
  | dmg/1kPR | 973 | 1,037 |
  | EHP/1kPR | 1,683 | 759 |
  | dpt | 29,850 | 29,787 |

Identical damage per turn, near-identical damage per PR, but R.Sloop is 2.9×
smaller per unit and 2.2× tougher per PR. Same job, strictly better hull.
- **H.Galleon** has the race's worst dpt (9,423) and is bottom-10 in the game on
that measure. Its pooled observed figure of +5.6 is the reverse-engineering
skill confound in its purest form — it reads +11 in Miner fleets and **−1.4 in
native Collective fleets**. It is not a good ship; it is a marker of players
  who acquired it.
